Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in mechanical design and engineering, focusing on innovative solutions for complex problems. This role is vital for developing new consumer appliances and upgrading existing products. This role will lead the design process from initial ideas to prototype development and manufacturing launch, as well as design components to enhance features, improve quality, simplify manufacturing, and reduce costs.

Essential Functions

  • Mechanical development for new models, or major upgrades to current platforms.
  • Participate in project planning meetings to assess timelines, resource allocation, and project milestones.
  • Developing system architecture, technology evaluation, and selection, specification of components and subsystems, development, testing, and production qualification.
  • Conduct a thorough analysis of mechanical designs to ensure functionality, reliability, and manufacturability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate mechanical designs with electrical systems.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers within the team.
  • Other duties/projects as required.

Experience & Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering required;
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in mechanical and electro-mechanical systems development from concept to production for high-volume consumer products
  • Expert level CAD design skills – parts and assemblies (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Experience working with GD&T
  • Design for manufacture and assembly (DFMA) of high-volume injection molded and cast parts.
  • Design of mechanisms, linkages, assembly methods, sealing, and high-speed electro-mechanical systems and components
  • Structured development and problem-solving using typical methods such as FEA, DFMEA, fault tree analysis, VAVE, etc.
  • Self-directed, with a bias for action
  • Data-driven, analytical, process-oriented.
  • Strong team player with good verbal and written communication skills

Essential Functions

  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance inspections and service on production machinery.
  • Troubleshoot production machinery issues to repair quickly and efficiently.
  • Implement testing and make modifications or additional alterations as needed.
  • Maintain shop areas: Clean, organize, and maintain inventory, parts, tools, and supplies.
  • Set up and program manual, semi-automated, or automated tools and machines (CNC, lathes, mills, etc.).
  • Take accurate measurements using precision tools (calipers, etc.).
  • Read, understand, and act on information contained in blueprints, schematics, and manuals.
  • Prepare daily reports of completed tasks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience & Education

  • Some vocational or college-related coursework or 1-2 years of demonstrated experience and training.
  • Mathematical skills with the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Thorough knowledge of health and safety regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of metal properties and other materials.
  • Verbal, written, and collaboration skills.
  • Time management skills to effectively plan daily workload to ensure completion of assignments.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and changing environment while maintaining professionalism.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to apply common sense and sound judgment in carrying out instructions.
