WORTH EVERY PENNY!!!!
I have owned a G4 for 30 years and I had to get it repaired once and it cost me $152. Which was 2 years ago. The suction power is the same as it was when I bought it. I paid $1500 for vaccum no scrubbing system 30 years ago so what they are charging now for a new one is reasonable concerning everything from 30 years ago has tripled in price or more and quality has went way down! I can still vaccum along baseboards and it picks up everything. Alot of vacuums out there can’t say that and I have tested it against many. I have put my Kirby to the test many times against family and friends vacuums and it beats them every time. I didn’t buy a Kirby blindly 30 years ago , my grandparent owned only 2 vacuums and tgehh th were Kirby’s. One for their main house and one for cabin. We still have both Kirby’s and are used at cabin. It has benn repaired a couple times but still works awesome! If and when my Kirby died I will buy another one can’t beat quality! $1500 and 39 years and still performs awesome speaks for itself!
I am an owner of several Kirbys, including a Heritage 2 Legend, G3, G6, Diamond Edition, and an Avalir. All of which were given to me by family members who either passed or no longer wanted them. While I am glad Kirbys are still being made, charging $2000+ for a vacuum that hasn’t really changed much since the G3 in 1990 is a little outrageous. I would recommend to anyone who wants a Kirby, look at local flea markets and thrift stores. These are EVERYWHERE. They can typically be found for $100 or less with most if not all the tools and they are very easy to refurbish. Or, if you aren’t handy or don’t want to risk breaking something, take it to a local vacuum shop (your town probably has one that you never knew existed) and usually for around $100-$200 they will refurbish it and it’ll run like a new one
I own a G6 model. Had it for over 20yrs now. Bought it in my early 20’s in the military and I will NEVER get rid of it. Just to have a quick lightweight option, over the years I have tried Oreck, Dyson, Greenworks, Hoover. So far only my Oreck upright has survived. Without a doubt, the motor and suction power on the G6 fully beats all my other vacuums. The Kirby for me has always worked like its in the Major Leagues and all the others are stuck back with the minor leagues still learning how to play the game correctly. As I get older, I am pretty sure I will get another upgraded model so I can have one on each floor because I know my knees will fail before the Kirby.
I bought mine 43 years ago,i abused it horribly it still works great what lasts longer than the roof on your house?
and parts still avalible in this day and age. expensive yes but 43 years !!
I have had my Avalir2 for over a year and have loved it since day one. I believe it’s the next older model as the current Avalir Platinum but was sold about the same price. Not sure the difference.
Wonderful cleaning system. I haven’t even begun to use it to its full potential as my house is not very big but everything has worked better than I could have imagined. That Hazard guy crying about the price has obviously never used one. My first is a model from the seventies that I still use regularly for the HEAVY DUTY stuff like vacuuming mud and dirt out of vehicles and vacuuming out the wood stove. It’s almost fifty years old and it’s needed nothing but a belt change here and there. Everything on a Kirby is well designed and easy to use. Even changing the belt (a nightmare on some brands) is a breeze that takes 30 seconds on a Kirby. My dog is a chewer and leaves trails of wood chips, pieces of toys, stuffing etc all over the house. The Avalir has great suction and will pick up mass amounts of bigger, heavier objects than any other upright vacuum I’ve ever used. Every component seems very heavy and well made. I mean everything! It is all metal, wood, heavy plastic in a few small parts. The vacuum’s auto drive assist makes it very convenient and easy to use. For being as large and as heavy as they are, I can literally push it around with ease with one finger.
I love any item that I can use and maintain over the rest of my life and Kirby is one of the few companies that still offers such a thing. Very well designed, well thought out and worth the price if you didn’t want to buy used. Five stars hands down and I would recommend a Kirby vacuum or whole house cleaning system to anyone.
