What is Dual HEPA Filtration?

HEPA stands for High-Efficiency Particulate Air filtration. To earn the HEPA designation, a filter must capture at least 99.97% of particles as small as 0.3 microns, a size so fine it includes many allergens, mold spores, and fine dust particles that pass straight through standard vacuum filters and get pushed back into the air you breathe.

Kirby's Dual HEPA System

Kirby's new line of Signature Series vacuums feature two HEPA-grade filtration stages instead of one:

  • Stage One captures larger debris and coarse dust before it ever reaches the second filter, reducing strain on the system and extending filter life.
  • Stage Two targets the microscopic particles that slip past most filtration, including fine dust, pollen, pet dander, and other airborne allergens, trapping them inside the vacuum instead of recirculating them into your home.

The result is a sealed, layered defense that keeps captured particles locked away rather than letting them escape through gaps or exhaust air.

Cleaner Air, Not Just Cleaner Floors

As you vacuum, the system continuously filters the air passing through the machine, so the exhaust released back into your room is measurably cleaner than the air that went in. That matters because:

  • Fine dust resettles quickly. Without strong filtration, vacuuming can actually stir up and redistribute fine particles rather than removing them.
  • Allergens accumulate in carpet and upholstery. Dust mites, pollen, and dander settle deep in fibers and get released with normal foot traffic and everyday activity.
  • Indoor air quality affects everyone in the home. Reducing airborne particulates can make a noticeable difference for allergy and asthma sufferers, young children, and pet owners alike.

Why HEPA Filtration Matters

Not all filtration is equal. Standard vacuum bags stop large debris but let fine particulates pass through and re-enter the air, sometimes worsening allergy symptoms during cleaning.

HEPA filtration is one of the most effective tools for reducing airborne allergens, which is why it's widely recommended for:

  • Allergy or asthma sufferers
  • Homes with pets
  • Families with young children
  • Anyone looking to maintain better year-round indoor air quality

Clean That Goes Beyond the Surface

Kirby has spent decades engineering vacuums built for deep, thorough cleaning. Dual-HEPA Filtration extends that legacy into the air itself, because a truly clean home isn't just about what you can see on the floor.
